The IDAF database is organised in three sections reflecting the different samples taken:

-  Rainfall
Rainfall files are computed from the ion chromatography analysis of each rain sample (for details regarding analytical procedures and associated precision, see the measurements section). The analysis provides concentrations of mineral cations and anions, as well as organic acids in ppb. Calculations for all the ions are performed in µeq/l. pH and conductivity are also measured for all samples. Each precipitation file is composed of 26 columns, classified as follows:

  • ID is the expression of the ionic balance in Ion Difference (%) according to the US EPA norm processed by the WMO. ID is a function of AE (anion sum) and CE (cation sum).

-  Gaseous Species
Gas files are computed from the ion chromatography analysis of each passive sampler filter. The analysis provides concentrations of mineral cations and anions in ppb (details about passive sampling techniques as well as the analytical and preparation procedures are provided in the measurements section). Each data file is composed of 7 columns, which are classified as follows:
